Default White or Off-White??

What do you think looks best with dark hardwood (a dark chocolatey tone)...

-stark white cabinets
or
-off-white cabinets?

I know I have to live with them so really it shouldn't matter what you think, but a lot of you have great taste and I like hearing your opinions.

Thanks!

I wanted off-white, but my mother talked me into stark white. We'll see when it's built, but I think it would have been fine either way.

This was my inspiration photo. Depending on the monitor I view it on it's a warm off-white or a stark blue-white and both have their charms.

Here is another white kitchen I liked:

Have fun in the design center!

I prefer white over cream (or off-white) because I have seen both built. But either will look good.

I would like a slightly off-white, vanilla maybe.
Anyway, if you don't like the color there is always a chance you can remove the cabinet door, remove the paint, sanding it, and re-stain or re-paint.

I would stick with something that is slightly off-white.
I am doing a white kitchen as well with grey almost concrete colour floor, pearl grey granite (charcoal colour) and a glass subwaay tile background in either green or blue. My designer noted that pure white might look a little harsh.

Hope that helps!

Generally speaking I find stark white tends to be more of a modern look and off-white a little more on the traditional side. Though of course the door style and hardware you choose could completely alter that...

We went back and forth too because we like both looks but in the end I think we've decided to go with stark white cabinets (in a shaker style with modern stainless steel pulls) and a deep chocolate colour for the cabinetry on our island. We're also going with dark brown hardwood (though outside of the kitchen - still not sure what colour tiles we'll do in the kitchen area).

Off white. Stark white looks dated IMO.

Another vote for off-white.
