Default What is the most valuable tidbit of info picked up from this forum???

Thought I would start a new thread because this forum has helped me alot . . . let's share the one most valuable tidbit of information learnt from others on this site.

Here's mine:

I didn't know that you need to seal the grout between tiles.

Seems simple, but I didn't know that - didn't even cross my mind for a second before I read it here.

I have also learnt that I no one is going to post to this thread. O.k., o.k., got the hint, I will get the moderator to shut it down.

GregS - please close this thread. Thank you!!!

I think this forum is especially great for first time home buyers. I learnt a lot when it came to upgrades. What to do with the builder and what to do on our own. Also great place to share pics.

All of the above are the main reasons why I started this site. Unfortunately some use it to complain about things, and then I get letters from lawyers.. but the good far outweighs the bad.

I would say a LOT of valuable info. This is our first new home buying experience so I searched this forum for things like:

Upgrades to consider from builder or later.
-For instance I did not know the difference between an HRV and ERV. Nor did I know that there were different types installation (dedicated> builder VS simplified> which can be done later).

-Smooth ceilings- I would not have known to ask if I had not seen it here (and a very reasonable upgrade for us)

-LOTS of H/W advice here which we will use when we eventually do it later.

Overall this forum is very useful since you can count on someone replying to your posting.

Default Great Site

I stumbled on this site by chance and got 'tons' of information no one will give you at a sitting out there as a First time buyers.

I didn't sign up for a long time but always refers to it whenever in need of first-hand knowledge...

*Upgrades information
*Hardwood floorin (Patrob is a huge pioneer on this)
*HST info
*PDI
*Ideas unlimited
*property Tax info...
*Great people (always responding to issues)
*Lots of valuable information buried in this forum

Thanks Greg.for this vision. this site has become my first call in looking for info
