Default White Kitchen Cabinets...Dirty?

Hi there,

I love the look of an all white kitchen but am really struggling with the issue of them showing a lot of dirt. For those of you who have white cabinets, how dirty do they actually look? Are you having to constantly clean them so that your kitchen looks nice? We will have 2 small children in this house...

Thanks

I have white cabinets right now and you do have to clean them regularly. I likely won't be going for white when I buy this time.

I too love the look of white and am also really considering them. Actually, I will be getting them. I don't have small children but am still concerned about the dirt. I currently have white in my bathroom and don't have a problem there.

My sister has white cabinets in her kitchen and they've discoloured to yellow. I'm not sure if this is common or not.

I'm thinking about getting the off white color. Are these a problem as well concerning dirt or discoloured?

I have white cupboards (and a messy teenage son) and I have to wipe them from time to time (but that's not a bad thing - keeps things nice and clean)...I love them...when I move we're getting white or off-white cabinets!

How long have you had your current cabinets?

We are also planning on getting white glazed wood cabinets. So for those who mentioned that they already have them, were they thermafoil, glazed wood.. etc.. etc?

We used to have the the white (cream) lidingo from Ikea in our old place. They looked great but got dirty every once in a while. They had a glossy finish so cleaning was supper easy. So if you go white make sure its a high gloss white.

I've had my cabinets for 5 or six years - so far, so good!
