Need Advice On Shower Asap pls
Need advice asap pls. Currently in progress of remodeling our bathroom with a known company in our city. Today got concerns about my shower. The gaps are really bothering me. Also, do they need to tape walls before punting tiles on it ? Also I did not seen any "orange" waterproofing materials , only black plastic on the floor I'm not a specialists , l don't know if its supposed to be this way. Please l need help.

What you're looking at is fairly common "builder standard" stuff. If you ask for a shower, this is what you get. If you want a Kerdi or similar system, you have to specify it. Taping is not important. A waterproof backing product is very nice to have, but if you don't specify it, it's not code and won't usually be included.
What bothers me more is they didn't centre the drain so they had to trim tiles very narrow to make the floor work. If someone took their time, that could have been dead centre of the shower floor and worked perfectly.

Looks like they used standard drywall vs moisture resistant (green) drywall.
At the very minimum I would of liked to see the mold resistant drywall used in a shower.

Last I knew the green stuff wasn't much better. Fibreglass-faced board is better. Cement board is better still. Kerdi over any drywall is supposed to be a great product, and there are similar competitors.

First what is being built there is the worst possible design for a shower.
Water will eventually find its way behind the tile where it will be absorbed and migrated to the wood framing. Mold and rot. One of the first areas to go is around the entrance step - lots of joints and seams there. Last edited by good2know; 2019-03-28 at 02:23 PM. Reason: add pic
