How do I plug something into an outlet?

Ok so this is embarrassing LOL...

Our house is brand new and a contractor left a step ladder next to one of our breaker panels (there is one at either end of the house) and my 3 year old climbed the ladder and flipped a breaker... We flipped it back but now all of our outlets have flipped closed... somehow...
I've never heard of this happening... Each thing we unplug won't plug back in anymore (little plastic door inside the prong slots flip shut?), we tried a few things around the house that are on different breakers and they're ALL doing it.
Help?

That has nothing to do with the breaker. Thats how the newer homes have power outlets these days. It will take some time to become looser I'd say. Until then try to push both prongs of the plug into the outlet at the same time (with some force) or push one leg in first and then the other one. Hope I explained it correctly and thats what the problem u r having.

That's what I thought also but they really all seem to have locked all at once. Until some breakers were flipped they were all working fine and now anything/everything we unplug won't go back in.

I agree with Picky, the Tamper Resistent ones the builder provides are pure crap. I've spent 5-10 mins trying to plug things in and 80-90% of them have given me problems. I went and bought the TR Leviton ones and installed them myself and voila, problem solved. That may be the issue at hand. Good luck.

I'm not sure what it was but this morning to install something else and they're all unlocked now. The quality of the outlets seems OK, they were just all mysteriously locked?

The breakers really have absolutely nothing to do with the plastic doors.
They are designed so that you have to push both prongs in at the same time to reduce the risk of little people putting something in there they shouldn't and getting electrocuted.

There are different quality TRs. Just unfortunately when you have to put 40 of them in a house times 300 houses you tend to look at the cheaper models.
