Whats every ones feelings on home inspectors? When is everyone getting theirs? I was thinking 30 day mark...but also wouldnt mind someone checking it all out in the summer when there isnt snow every where....

We just had our inspection. The day after we moved in. We felt this worked for us because we would not have been able to follow around the inspector to see what he was pointing out and go around with the person doing the PDI.

Hopefully you have as good a Mattamy experience as we did. We had very few items on our PDI, none of which were major items.

As for the home inspection, we used Acker and were very happy with his services. The only area he could not inspect was the roof because of the snow but he indicated that almost all problems he would find with a roof don't show up until the 1 year mark. He only found 19 items, none major and he said typically for a 2100 sq foot home he finds 40 items. Yipee.

We have lived in the home for 5 days now and I only have one item I wish we had added and that is a light at the garage entrance on the inside. It's a bit of a dark corner.

Also if anyone is interested, we had "D" (who used to work in the design centre) in to help with paint colours, furniture layout, coordinating towels and accessories etc. She was really great and I loved her ideas. She was very good at seeing what type of decor I like and offering suggestions to fit it. I have a bunch of her business cards if anyone would like one.

i think we're going to do 30 and 365 day inspections, if that helps!

Is "D" not working for Mattamy anymore? Is she on her own now? I know she use to have her own company but told us she liked the "normal" hours she gets with Mattamy....I guess she is back working for herself again.
I would really like one of her busniess cards or info. She was already helping us pick out paint colours during our design centre appointment. We hinted about using her services after we move in. She is great!

We had "D" as well and she was beyond amazing. We had a very general idea of what we were looking for and she created a dream house out of it.

From day one, our plan was to get the inspector at the 1 year mark. Not like it really matters, Mattamy still hasnt fixed things from our PDI
