Backup generator - unusual implementation

My experience is the water heater motors are always on their own circuit.
I don't have a copy of the code to verify.
However permanent motor loads usually are on dedicated circuits.

Sump pump
Water heater

Electric garage door opener

I dont agree with the garage door opener being a "critical use" appliance.

For my place built in in 2010, the HRV and tankless water heater shares the same circuit along with some of the basement plugs. The garage door opener shares a circuit with the light switch and another plug if I recall.
