If you don't mind sharing, how much did it cost for the permits (electrical excluded)? And what sort of plans did you have to submit to the city?

Great thread! Love to watch these!

What type of sound proofing measurements are you planning? Are you doing it just in the rec room, or the family room too. I assume you are going with a projector? That's my plan as well, still in the planning stages though...
Thanks!!

Safe and sound insulation, acoustic panels on walls and bass traps. No projector, plasma.

Nice! Let me know how it sounds, I'm wondering how much sound insulation to do. Whether its worth it to decouple the ceiling with clips and double drywall as well.

Infinatecables.com out of Markham
that's the only place locally where I could find in wall rated cables. If you need just regular cables, go to sayal.com, they also have a store on harvester.

Fingers, the permit with the city cost 300, electrical 260.

Just waiting for the electrical inspector now, I will take some pics while I wait.

Passed electrical rough in inspection, just a couple of minor things to fix before the final inspection when it's all running.

Now I must get my ass in gear and get the insulation done, the city is coming tomorrow to inspect the insulation. Drywall after that and through the weekend. My tapers are coming Sunday evening to put up the corner beads and then they start taping and musing on Monday.

Here are some pics of the progress.

Insulation done on the walls, tomorrow morning the vapor barrier goes up, then the safe and sound in the ceiling and theatre wall.

I'm officially spent for the day. Time to order a pizza and knock back some cold ones.

Well, inspections all done for now, drywall is almost done. I ran out of time to finish the drywall myself (back to work today), Sebastian from Taping Excellence is finishing up the boarding before they start to tape and mud. They will be back tomorrow to finish the boarding and put on the corner bead. Wednesday they start taping and should be wrapped up on Sunday. So I get a break for a few days.

The rooms are really starting to take shape now and man is it ever warm down there, it looks like I will need to close the registers part way to maintain a comfortable temperature.
