Default Findlay Creek / no Sobey's?

Has anyone else noticed that the big signs at the front of Findlay Creek that displays the future tenants no longer includes "FRESH CO" grocery store. At first it said Sobey's....then it was changed to "FRESH CO" (Sobey's new discount version) and now it has been covered over completely.

So does this mean no grocery store in Findlay Creek?

The community association (FCCA) is trying to convince Sobey's to open a real Sobey's store in Findlay Creek, instead of a discount brand. Taggart also prefers a Sobey's instead of a FreshCo.

It is my understanding that Sobey's is still committed, but the actual brand is not 100% certain.

Stay tuned....

Brad will it help your negotiations with Sobey's by having community residents send in their support the Sobey's vs. FreshCo or do you have enough ammo? Perhaps we could all contat Sobey's directly. I'm really happy that you are pushing for Sobey's!

What's the difference between the two brands? FreshCo would have lower prices?

I would prefer Sobey's as well and would also be interested in knowing what I can do to push for this. Thanks

From what I understand, Sobey's bought the Price Chopper chain and is now retooling it as "FreshCo" to compete with chains such as Food Basics.

Ugh. I'd rather a Sobey's than a FreshCo (or what I'm familiar with - Price Chopper). Just a more well rounded grocery store.

And that would be TERRIBLE for Findlay Creek. That belongs in South Keys!

well, if they put in the wrong store, people won't shop there, plain and simple. We've got Farmboy just up the street which is great but my experience with price chopper has not been great in the past. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

So who has actually been in a FreshCo and not just firing off the hip?

It's a new store being built - it's not like its going to be some run down building with a few rows of groceries put in.

Do we really need another overpriced grocery store to shop at?
