Default gypsum drywall

Hi all, does anyone have any experience or know anything about gypsum drywall? is it good for a basement?

That is the main ingredient in your standard drywall.
So yes, great for your basement providing you frame, insulate and vapour it first.

thanks Greg, the website that referred to this made it sound like this is some kind of latest and greatest material. I should have known it was just standard drywall. Are there better options for a basement?

how is Magnesium wallboard? there is a company who uses that when finishing basements.

Just go with drywall - simple, effective, and used for decades...what are your reasons for wanting to look at other products? I'd understand if it was flooring as there are TONS of options but for walls...drywall hasn't changed that much and for good reason. It get's the job done and is the choice for 99.9% of homes (and basements).
