Yes. They probably included the fireplace as standard feature previously but not anymore. We bought from them because of the location. Their present standard features are rather poor.

Bottom line, gas fireplace is more efficient and much less maintenance compared to old wood-burning and will increase a home's value compared to one that doesn't have it. Will you get the full $5,000 back...unless you had identical homes it's very hard to answer this. I'd say you'd get some back for sure, as it's an investment in upgrades you put into the home.

Surprised it's such a big topic. Just get it!
