Question Input on commuting times needed - Carp, Riverside South & South Barrhaven

We're debating on two different locations for building and would like to know what the typical commute is to downtown from Carp (Hidden Lakes) and Riverside South at 7:00-7:30am. I'd also be interested to hear from anyone in South Barrhaven. We are currently in the area now but my job will be moving downtown shortly and I have no idea what to expect!

I live in Stonebridge and work at Tunney's Pasture (just west of downtown). I leave to go in at 6:45 each morning and it takes just under 25 minutes. I leave to go home most days around 3:15 and it takes about 25-30 minutes. If I leave work after 3:30 it is usually closer to 40 minutes to get home.

are you talking about Car or bus?

I would say Carp is the worst commute, then South Barheaven, and the best being RSS.

I live in Stonebridge and work in Gatineau, just outside of the Portage area. I leave at 630 and will usually get to work at 705 or less. I think RSS would be a worst commute than Barrhaven South, anything involving Riverside or Prince of Wales is a disaster in the morning and afternoons. I take Greenbank right up to the River Parkway....then it's smooth sailing into the Ottawa downtown core. I find the traffic much better on the parkway than if I take the 417 at the Pinecrest exit.

On another note, from a non-commuting viewpoint....I would rather live in Barrhaven than RSS but that's just me..

I work downtown and commute from Barrhaven South. I park and ride at Strandherd. I leave home around 7:30 arrive at Strandherd at 7:35. I arrive at 8:10 at work.

I'm looking forward to the Transit-way extension to Half Moon Bay/New Green Bank. But I heard it's a 25 years plan

Riverside South will get worst traffic after the bridge connected Barrhaven and Riverside South built. I'm sure many Stonebridge/Halfmoon Bay residents will cross that bridge in the morning.

LOL - hebdo27's response seems a bit biased.

I currently live in RSS and work on baseline/merivale. It takes me about 25 minutes if I leave at 7:10. I have noticed that if you leave after 7:30 the time increases significantly.

To help paint a bit more of a proportionate view, RSS infrastructure (roads) are much more well-planned than Stonebridge. All major routes include 2 lanes in each direction. The traffic flows really nicely. Other than that, physically speaking, RSS is much closer to the downtown sector (on a map).

My last point - I cannot speculate on the impact of the new bridge on traffic but the fact that Stonebridge/barrhaven commuters would be using it proves to me that RSS is closer and a better route.

I live in HMB and we bus downtown (9 to 5). If we get the local bus at 7:50, we're downtown at 8:35. If we leave on the next one (8:15) we are there at around 9:05.

We also sometimes park at the Strandherd Park and Ride which takes about 5 minutes to get to. I avoid taking the car downtown if I can.

It looks that RSS is in a better position to take bus downtwon than HMB or Stonebriage. I leave home at 8:20, take the bus 8:25 and arrive downtown at 9:00.
