Default Eavestroughing in the Winter vs. Summer?

The water and wet snow dripping down onto our porch is driving me crazy!

Just wondering if anyone knows if it's detrimental to eavestrough in the winter?

We upgraded and installed the gutter guard (mesh cover) on our eavestroughs. They have been working nicely in this warm spell. I just cleared the snow on the ground near the downspouts.

I have heard that the mesh also reinforces the eaves and makes them stronger. Not sure if it's true. So far ours look good.
