Caivan is a brand new company for the most part so you won't find much details, but it was the former Mattamy and Glenview executive that started up the company... so take that for what you will.

Thanks! I did some research on their Barrhaven development and much of it is in the flood plain. Perhaps Fox Run is a better albeit less convenient alternative.

There is also another thread about Caivan on here. I actually purchased a property in the new development in barrhaven. I spoke with the RVCA who did the testing out in the area before giving Caivan the go ahead. If you look at the flood plain map of Ottawa, the first phase of the development is not in it. Cannot say the same thing for their future phases but if you were to buy there, the first phase in my opinion would be the best.

They must have a hard time selling homes. I did not purchase with them, but visited with a friend as he was interested a few days ago. It looks like they've got some sale going on and they've sold a portion of Fox Run to Metric homes which will be building 50ft+ lot homes. We also reviewed the structural upgrade sheet and weren't too impressed with what was included and the lot sizes were very underwhelming considering being in Richmond.

I believe if you're looking in Richmond, check out Cedarstone and Talos. While they are custom homes, their price are relatively comparable.

I purchased in the fall. Home should be ready by Nov. They are a good 50k cheaper then the competition in Richmond. However any upgrades are absolutely over priced. Well above the competition.

Can you please (if you have time) come back on here when your house is ready to update us on how things are coming along after you move in?

We purchased a Caivan home in barrhaven and as of writing this there is not a lot of impressions/reviews yet from homebuyers.

P.S a friend of mines husband is a tradesman who has done some work in their Richmond homes and has said the quality thus far has been very good from what they have seen... so that's a good sign!
