Exclamation Furnace Maintenance Services

We are looking for a reputable furnace cleaning company. We don't want to pay an arm and a leg for the service but want a thorough cleaning and inspection of the furnace before we turn it on. We had a company clean it two years ago and they were in and out in 20 minutes. I can hardly think it was properly cleaned and/or inspected in that short period of time.
Any suggestions???

Todays furnaces are clean burning and while there is some cleaning there is more to it... Think of it more as tune up or maintenance.

-CO checks in flue
-CO checks in ambient
-flame signal check(clean rod if needed)
-visual inspection of venting
-heat exchanger inspection
-input verification manifold pressure check
-checking of saftie switches
-check and clean blower as needed

Ask for a checklist and feel free to stick around and ask technician questions.

Honestly if a furnace is well maintained it doesnt take a seasoned technician long to complete a maintence. 30-45minutes should get the job done

I recomend Enercare, i know most of the techs that work in the Nepean area. Ask for the company techs when you call.

I contacted Enercare and got Salt Lake City .. not exactly what I was asking for in terms of 'local' furnace maintenance. It took them 10 minutes to figure out I was in Canada.

I use axis for every thing hvac related.

If you get a quote from them, ask if they have a combo special - tuneup on the ac at the same time.

Do you do this annually?

Exclamation

We own 3 properties and have the furnace maintenance done every other year. We don't do the A/C (though most HVAC companies try to push it on you).
We have not been able to contact Axis - they don't seem to have reliable phone messaging so I'm not so inclined to do business if I can't get a hold of a real person, especially if there is a problem.

Their website lists an emergency phone number and we called 3wks after receiving service because our furnace filter caught fire (yes, you read that correctly...inside a gas furnace) and the # is out of service.

Thats a shocker. I wonder whats happened?

We have some rentals. We do furnaces every couple of years, old furnace yearly, and the ac every 3 years.

Did the fan catch on fire? A furnace filter wont just ignite???

Arcing cause the filter to catch fire (the flammable material that captures all the dust/airborne debris).
