Default rogers

happy new years to all

just a question about rogers. i am looking at going with rogers for home phone, internet, and cable. can i get some input to how well the service/performance of rogers is in the new hood.

internet - what kind of download speeds are we looking at on rogers extreme? sites like bitorrent.
phone - clear, phones, i have not seen or used rogers home phone.
cable - clean signal good HDTV?

any input would help the ? of bell or rogers.

Thanks Andrew

Andrew,

Do you know if the area is wired for Rogers Internet? Sometimes certain areas are only wired for Bell or Rogers.

i know that the coax is to the house for rogers and the cable for bell is also at the side of the house.

Andrew,

For internet, the speed of rogers is very good. However, just check what is their current policy regarding "caps". Last time I checked they had a certain cap or max of how much you can download.

As for cable, I did not try the HDTV, but regular service is very good. I specially love the new PVR's. It is very easy to use. I'm getting addicted to it.

I hope you had a happy New Year.

Albert

i find the cable speed is ok (was better in Aurora) it's all over the place in terms of measurements. It's only been down once since Aug for about 12hrs

the HDTV is pretty good too, i also like the PVR...got hooked on that back in Aurora. I hate the online guide though...if you search by title it just lists everything that starts with the letter you are on... we used to br able to search for say "just movies" or enter the first 4 letters of the show we wanted and narrow down the list.

we have our phone through bell so I can't comment on what Rogers would be like.

The only real problem we have here is the power... it goes out a lot more than we are used to but i guess that's part of being in a new development.

We currently use the Rogers for our home phone service and it is very good. Not a single problem yet in over two months.

We have everything with Rogers and we're really happy with all of it.
We also got a msg from them the other day saying we can call anyone (in Canada) who has Rogers home phone for free. At least I think that was the jist of the msg.

PS: Bittorrent is not a website.. it's a protocol for transferring files. It's speed is entirely relative to all the other people sharing the same file at the same time.
