Default Milton Trails Phase 4

Hi everyone! Just purchased my first home in milton trails with arista homes at tremain/derry rd. Closing is april 2012 next year!!! I was hoping id bump into some new neighbours on this site- but most ppl seem to be phase 3 residents. Anyhow, i look forward to talkn to all u new home buyers out there and maybe we can learn a thing or two from each other along the way!

So far i've visited the builder decor center a few times and have my tier 1 appointment coming up in the next few weeks. From wht i hear its important to discuss any structural changes as early as possible. The model i purchased is The Eden - with Loft option. It includes laundry on the second floor (bedroom level). Im considering moving the laundry to the basement while retaining the room upstairs for storage. We'll see how something as simple as tht costs- as i believe it would only affect electrical.
Anyhow, i noticed a lot of ppl are interested in pricing- i do have the upgrades price list for my place, just picked it up friday!!! So if anyone has any questions or advice, or just wants to say 'hi' - pls feel free!!

ns

Congrats on your new home!

We too bought the Eden, love the floorplan! but decided not to get the loft. For the $$$ they were asking we can finish the basement for more sq ft + 3 pc bath, bar and a big screen TV Plus, don't really like the stairs to the loft, very steep and takes away from the open concept of the 2nd floor like in the model home...but to each his/her own.

For resale purposes and the fact you'll get ripped off by the builder; use your basement for storage and don't move the laundry room. 2nd floor laundry is very convienient and popular especially for families. Who wants to go up and down two sets of stairs lugging laundry baskets?

Don't move your laundry, mine is currently in the basement and I wish it was on the first or second floor.
We bought from Arista in phase 4 also. One of the necessities was a main floor or second floor laundry. We already got our price book, and we could move our laundry to the basement for $325, but who would want to do that?

Hi Guys!
Nice to meet my neighbours!
Thats definitely some good advice - Thanks! I guess my only reason for wanting it in the basement is the fear of a repeat of what happened at my parents place. Second floor laundry machine went crazy, flooded all over the floor and ended up damaging the finished ceiling in the basement :s Very ugly and costly to fix.

I was imagining something like that happening in my new house and a damage resulting in the kitchen ceiling.. :s

I'm still considering it though... may end up keeping it upstairs in the end lol (resale purposes was a great insentive DanThaMan!).

Hey DanThaMan - did you see a model home of the Eden WITH the loft option? I went to the milton model homes and the Eden there does not have the loft option. I'm curious to see how it changes openness of the the upstairs hall...

We just walked through one of the houses being built...there is one being built on Malbeouf court (corner house) that should be open and I believe they have the loft. Go by and see if you can sneak in to take a look...

Also here's a virtual tour of an Eden w/ Loft that was for sale a while back.

Hi The Baker!!
yay, so nice to meet more new neighbours! Arista Called me last week to pick up my price book. I picked it up last friday. Inside the folder is the card of my personal decor center specialist and a letter indicating that i would recieve a phone call to make the tier I appointment. Instead of waiting, i called the decor center myself Monday and left a message saying that i was interested in booking my appointment. They called me back the same day, and the appointment has been set for tomorrow evening! I'm very excited!

DanThaMan - you're the best!! That link was amazing..its so cool to see what the actually house will look like. Its funny how you can fall in love with a house, lol. i will definitely go check out the site soon too!

Hey SPW!

Nice to meet you as well. It looks as though we are closing in the same month. We booked our tier 1 apt but it won't be until mid Feb. If you or anyone else has any advice on what is worth it to get for tier 1 it would be greatly appreciated as this is my first home and still trying to learn the ropes! Good luck on your apt! :o)
