I didn't know refusing the appointment was an option either. I'll talk to my husband about it tonight. I've also been very concerned about handing over more money when we don't even know if Phase 5 is going to be approved anytime soon. Some sort of guarentee that this house is going to happen before they take more money from us would be nice. :-)

I guess the only reason I'm tempted to take it is to lock in some prices and options. I have a few friends who have bought with Mattamy over the last couple of years so I've seen the upgrade prices ahead of time and there is an increase in this latest catalogue. I worry that it will continue to go up. And we finally found some reasonably priced tile we like but at the rate they keep changing their selection (every two or three months) with fewer and fewer options as "standard", I'd like to get some things finalized. But I guess there are no guarentees we'll be able to keep those prices/selections...

@ Highwood50 - they sent us an email and gave us a "target week" but we couldn't make that week due to prior commitments so we were able to push our appointment out. It seems like they have quite a bit of flexibility on dates. Btw - If you ever want some pictures of options at the design center please let me know; I'd be happy to help.

It's "funny" how everything change every time you talk to someone different. It's soooo confusing!

Sara: Pictures are always welcome. I'm so undecided about upgrades... We were at the design centre early September and I was really disappointed about their selections... I found that the DC was not very clean and it was total chaos to try and find something. We stayed about 45 min, got a few pictures and left with a headache

When we bought, we mention that issue (we are about 12 hours away) so the date they will give us might not work with us. The sale rep said that if we couldn't make it, they would just choose the options for us ...

I will make sure I can make it to the appointment they give me
That's BS! We lived in TO when we originally bought a townhouse with Mattamy. They were very accommodating as we were from out of town. Just explain your situation to the design rep when they contact you.

As for refusing. I did it. It was pointless picking out things when we weren’t closing for 14 mths. I explained that and she said she'd contact us again in a few months.

Our prices are locked in from 2008 as we were the lucky ones to resign with them last fall based on their lies. So even if the prices go up, we're locked in with the 2008 prices.

We can cancel our appointment up to a week (or maybe 72 hours?) before so I was going to wait and see what happens in October - it should be a very interesting month. The flooding report comes out on October 13th and I'm hoping the approval for the roads will be closer to completion within the next few weeks. I'll call the city about a week before our appointment to get an update on what's happening but after chatting with you guys I am starting to get more worried about locking in right away. Oh what to do...

I just received another letter from Mattamy. It says that because of the defeat of Feltmante's motion, "It is not anticiapted that Fairewinds Community will be impacted by further land development delays related to a moratorium on development. ", also, "It is projected that roads will be paved in Neighborhood 5 by mid-December. " Because of all of these, "This will mean that home closings will commence in Neighborhood 5 in late summer 2010".

Thought this is not too bad a news. And you guys would have this letter soon.

On the bad sad we have been waiting a long time.

Few good points.. we get foundations poured in the warmer months, our homes are not built in the winter (not a huge plus, but a plus) maybe we will get paved driveways and sod right away? Easier to sell existing home in the warmer weather also..

Trying to be positive

Ian
Glad someone is trying to stay positive...I just can't do it anymore...we bought in May 2008 and we still have no house...I'm done being patient...I'm just mad, frustrated and fed up...I don't want my Mattamy home anymore. I just want out.

If you have a way out, let us know. I signed my first contract with Mattamy on May 8th of 2008, so we are very close on that. Too much frustration, right now, I just want let it go its own way, as it's out of my control.

Did Mattamy give you the "out" option. I know some people got it, I was just wondering if everyone got the offer.

I find you guys are very patient and really hope your house will be perfect and hope you don't have to deal with Mattamy BS any more.
