Well, this gives me a bit of hope until we get this dreaded letter... Why can't everything just work out?? Argh!
I'm beginning to wish I would have just taken HMB. I have a friend that got out last October, took the Barrhaven offer and moved in last week

Well I received an email today from a friend who was told that Mattamy said there are no closing dates for 2010 due to problems with the city. So it looks like it is true. I'm so angry right now. Especially since they are booking us for design center appointments and trying to take even more money from us when they knew they couldn't close on time.

Thumbs down

Well, the absolute latest they can delay us is Feb 2011 - come on, that's just ridiculous!
I wonder what the options will be... perhaps HMB again?
Anyone regret not taking that offer last year?

What was the offer to go to HMB like? Would you have had to pay current prices or was it retroactive to the day you purchased in Fairwinds?

I went there on Saturday to check if all lots are sold on Coriolis court. Then the sales guy told me that all sales for Phase 5 is on hold. He didn't say 5A or 5B though. I couldn't get anything more from him, as he just told me to wait for the official letter. I was so disappointment about it.

What options do we have? Resign another contract like what we did last Oct? I could wait, but I really don't want to sign anything with Mattamy without some clear answer. Walk out? I really don't want to restart this buying a new house process again, not to mention how much the price has gone up since I signed my first contract with Mattamy!

)!@#%&^*&$@$%......

Did the sales guy say all of Phase 5 or was he referring to the B area only?

I talked with Design center, and they have agreed to refund what I have paid for the design upgrade. They won't charge me until the foundation is poured. I need to follow up with them today to make sure they will refund me as soon as possible.

I doubt that too. But I really wish we get the walkout option...(bought in last July) I'm not very patient and I don't want to be in the same boat some people are right now: no house and been waiting for 1+ year.....

Let's wait for that letter!!!!

That's the least they can do!

It's funny - now that all of this has come out I remember something the city rep was hinting at. He said that they had suggested some changes to Mattamy and that the ball was now in their court. He hinted at the fact that Mattamy had a lot of irons in the fire right now (other developments they were working on) and although it wasn't directly stated, I got the distinct impression that some of the delay was due to Mattamy not prioritizing Phase 5. I guess we need to wait and see what the letter says but if it doesn't give us walk out options, I think it might be beneficial for us to consider getting together to press the issue again.

The truth is, after I signed my first contract with Mattamy in May of 2008, I have become more patient every day. Perhaps that's something good for my personality growth? Currently I have a house, that's why I am in a little bit better situation than some other buyers who have to pay rent for two years during this long waiting period! That's one reason I didn't choose to move to HMB last year to enjoy the famous Barrhaven traffic jam on ground and countless flights above head.
